If you are heading out on a family holiday, it can be hard to keep the budget on track. Here are some ideas to help stay within the holiday budget by making great use of the hotel's dining facilities.

Look for a hotel deal with breakfast included

Kids often love the options on a hotel buffet, so it can be great to make full use of the buffet breakfast option. Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day, so it makes sense to make this a big meal and fill up on a range of options. It can also be a good way to let the kids try some different options without needing to be too worried if they suddenly decide that the food they initially selected is actually not what they want once they start eating. It can also be every handy to fill up in the hotel so that you can leave straight afterwards to make the most of your days. Look for a hotel with a kid-friendly breakfast buffet including cereals, pastries, pancakes and waffles as well as fruits.

Grab some food on the go

Lunch can be a good time to experiment with local cuisine. The restaurants are often less busy at lunch time and can offer cheaper deals if mum and dad want to try some local food. If the kids aren't as eager, you can often find a kids meal on the menu (with generic, kid-friendly options such as nuggets and chips), or some snack from a market to keep them going.

Check if the hotel has kids eat free deals

Many hotels have kids eat free deals on different days of the week or for early diners. These can be a great option after a long day of sightseeing and can let you get the kids filled up so you can get them to bed. It can be worth checking with the hotel as this can save significant amounts of time and stress when dealing with tired children. If you aren't quite ready for dinner, you can always have some early tapas at the same time as the kids, then order some room service later on once the kids have gone to sleep!

As you can see, by choosing the right dining options you can often find some great deals to get the kids eating a great range of food for cheap. This can help you keep to your holiday budget and helps make the holiday more enjoyable for all.
